Dress Rehearsal For "We Will Rock You"

Here are some pictures from our dress rehearsal which took place a few weeks before the actual show. During this rehearsal, Harriette (Scaramouche) was absent so we were lucky enough to have our understudy, Kayleigh Chapman, to take over until Harriette got back.

Rehearsal Scheduale For We Will Rock You Performance

Wednesday 9th September:
During this lesson, we were able to get a start on the rehearsal of the dance “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” and this was a rock style song so we had to perform with dancing and singing. We have cast the part of Galileo due to the fact he is the only male performer in the group, so we will be holding the audition of Scaramouch. This was a good lesson because I was able to learn what we would be doing throughout this unit.

Wednesday 16th September:
In this lesson, we were able to finish the Crazy Little Thing Called Love dance, and were able to go through that song, Somebody to Love and Radio Gaga. We then found out that the audition for Scaramouch will take place in the next lesson so that the person who receives the part will get coaching on how to sing their solo parts in the songs. Now I am able to establish my role in the performance.

Wednesday 23rd September:
This was the important part of the rehearsals because we were able to cast the part of Scaramouch, but also to be able to start and finish the dance for “We Will Rock You” which contains a lot of involvement from the audience so it needs to be powerful. In this lesson I learned that I must try to be involved as much as possible in the performance as well as the written part of the unit.

Wednesday 30th September:
In this lesson, we were able to start the dance for “Radio Gaga” which we then finished so we could fit in all the dances together and there is only dialogue left to fit into the performance. We also received a folder to store all our theory and portfolio work for each unit of the diploma course.

Wednesday 7th October:
Due to finishing all the dances, we have now to focus on songs and dialogue because there are different harmonies within the group, which needs to be improved. I am in the higher harmony so we have to fit everything together with the timing and the tune of the songs.

Wednesday 14th October:

Here was the most important part of the course so far: the dress rehearsal on the stage. We have been through the whole performance while stopping once in awhile to improve some parts or change them. Once the improvements were made, the whole performance was filmed so we could have evidence of the rehearsal.
